What happens now? Post-Graduate from Flatiron.

I finished my final project and will soon graduate from Flatiron. Now that I have accomplished my goal, it’s time to make a new one. In this post I will be brainstorming/sharing my thoughts pertaining to my new goal.
First things first: after graduation I plan to meet with my career coach to explore what the programming world has to offer. I’m leaning towards becoming a Software Developer, or perhaps a Software Engineer. Both peak my interests, but also have slight differences. Depending on my skill — and what I find first — will most likely be the deal breaker. Below I summarized the primary duties for each position:
Software Developer: Software developers identify user needs, build programs, test out new software, and make improvements. “Software developers build computer programs with a focus on visual design rather than the functionality of each program. Their main duties include analyzing information, performing research on existing programs and mobile applications, designing software systems that look appealing and function properly, and consulting with engineers to evaluate interfaces, functionality and performance needs.”
Software Engineer: Software engineers design and create computer systems and applications to solve real-world problems. “A software engineer builds software programs through the use of engineering principles, prepares and installs solutions, designs standards and specifications, and improves the operations of various programs. They also determine whether a client request for software is feasible and work with software developers to provide details about the design needs for a program or application.”
In my opinion, a Software Developer would be a good fit for beginner programmers (like me) looking to start their first job, whereas, a Software Engineer might be for the more advanced, “already had my first job” type of person. Regardless, I’m not picky (how could I be?) and I’d be thankful to score a spot in any role. With that being said, I’m so ready to start this new chapter in my life, but this time as a pro!
